ABOUT BEACH HAVEN
Since 1939, Beach Haven Resort has welcomed guests seeking the rustic beauty and tranquility of Orcas Island. Our waterfront resort is bordered by one of the only remaining stands of old-growth forest on Orcas. It is home to many species of wildlife, including: bald eagles, deer, otters, various birds and seals. Our lack of televisions, telephones and internet access in the cabins ensure a distraction-free escape.
Beach Haven was built by a family who were some of the first homesteaders on Orcas Island. In the 1930’s Bill Kimple and His family began clearing select trees in our old growth forest to build four traditional log cabins with electricity. They milled the wood from the cleared trees and built each cabin so it would have unsurpassed views and privacy. They opened their doors to their first guests in 1939 when it was mostly Seattle’s higher class adventurers that could afford the ferry and journey to get here. Each cabin had a Franklin stove for cooking and there was one central refrigerator to be shared among the four cabins. Since then the resort has been sold and purchased a few times but always owned by families. Over the years additional cabins were added to accommodate families and groups of fisherman. To this day we offer a secluded “one of a kind” retreat that is a throw back in time. Today’s guests come to unplug from constant communication and get back to all the basics in life. Many return year after year for a chance to smell the fresh air, watch the eagles soar and relax. As our guests depart they read our sign that says “Leaving Beach Haven Entering The World.”
Beach Haven is here to welcome you whether you are planning a romantic getaway for two, family holiday, corporate retreat or solo adventure. Just steps from your waterfront deck you can enjoy numerous activities. You can walk our private beach, row a boat out and drop a crab pot, paddle a kayak (or canoe or SUP), play horseshoes, sit around one of our two fire pits, play a game of outdoor ping-pong, bird watch, frolic in our playground or just sit on the beach and relax. Wood-burning stoves in the cabins provide a cozy spot inside to unwind with a book or relax with friends or loved one. At Beach Haven, you’ll feel like you’ve left the world behind, yet you are minutes from Eastsound where shopping, dining and recreation options abound.
Please note: we are full in all cabins from mid-June thru mid-Sept as we are completely booked with returning summer guests. We are open year-round so we hope that you’ll be able to visit us another time.
