FAQ

Please note: we are full in all cabins from mid-June thru mid-Sept as we are completely booked with returning summer guests. We are open year-round so we hope that you’ll be able to visit us another time.

How do I get to Orcas Island?

By boat or by plane. Most residents and visitors travel by Washington State Ferry to Orcas Island from Anacortes, WA.

Do I need a car on Orcas?

There is no public transportation on Orcas. There is a local taxi service and bicycle rentals if you are determined to visit without a car. It is a large island (55 square miles) with lots to explore, so we suggest having a car. In the summer months there is a shuttle from the ferry to Eastsound and Moran State Park, but it does not stop anywhere close to Beach Haven.

Are you pet friendly?

Sorry, we CANNOT allow any pets on the property. If you’d like to board your pet while visiting Orcas Island there are on-island pet care services that can help.

Can I make a reservation online?

No, reservations can be made by calling or emailing your request and we will respond during office hours.

Is my deposit refundable?

Yes, but some fees will apply. Your deposit (50% of the pre-tax amount of your stay) will be refunded minus a $25 fee if you cancel more than 14 days before your reservation in Oct-May and 21 days before your June-Sept or holiday reservation. The deposit will not be refunded if you cancel after these deadlines unless we can rebook your cabin. If you fail to cancel entirely (no-show), no refund will be made on your deposit.

What are your office hours?

April-Sept

    10am-5pm everyday

Oct-March

    10am-3pm Sun-Thur

    10am-5pm Fri & Sat.

Do you require a minimum stay?

Yes. All cabins have a 7 night minimum stay from mid-June thru Labor Day weekend. For the the month of May, September through October 15th and all holidays, all cabins & apartments require a 3 night minimum stay. All other times, there is a 2 night minimum stay for all cabins, other than the Beachcomber, which has a three night minimum stay.

Can I check-out late or check-in early?

Our check in is 4pm in the high season (April-October) and 3 pm in the off season (November-March). Check out is 10am. Requests to vary these times are not possible in the high season and in the off season it depends on housekeeping and occupancy. Inquire with the office to request either.

What am I looking at from my cabin?

Beach Haven is located on the NW side of the island on the President’s Channel. To our left (south) is Waldron Island, a private island without ferry service. Beyond it is Saturna Island, with the red antennae, part of the Gulf Islands of Canada. Look far across the horizon and you’ll see the lights of Roberts Bank Superport reflect onto the water and above that the lights of Cypress & Grouse ski resorts in Vancouver, BC.

In our bay to the right (north) is Freeman Island and Pt Doughty is at the northern end of our bay. Both Freeman Island and Pt Doughty are open to the public, but only accessible by water. Beyond Pt. Doughty, the tip of Patos Island is visible and at night this state park’s lighthouse may be visible.

Can I have visitors?

If you would like to invite friends or family members to visit you during the day or for a meal please contact management for prior approval. Inviting others to visit creates more noise, less space on the beach and parking issues for registered guests.

Is there a store or restaurant on-site?

No, but every cabin has a full kitchen. We’re only 3 miles away from Eastsound, which offers many places to dine and shop including a full-service grocery store and liquor store. (We provide salt and pepper, coffee filters, soaps and paper products.)

What should I bring with me?

  • binoculars to observe wildlife from your cabin
  • camera to capture the spectacular sunrises & sunsets
  • layers of clothing, including waterproof layers
  • shoes to walk our private pebble beach or hike the miles of trails on Orcas Island
  • specialty food items you might not be able to procure on the island
  • personal electronics & music players (Remember: we have NO televisions, radios or internet access in our cabins. Please refrain from playing any amplified music outside of your cabin.)
  • charcoal & lighter fluid, if you plan to use the Weber BBQ grills (These can be purchased at the grocery store.)
  • beach chairs (Each cabin’s deck is furnished with 2 chairs & 1 picnic table)
  • Life Jackets are provided with boat rentals but you are welcome to bring your own

Is there wi-fi & cell service at my cabin?

No, our guests tell us that the the luxury of unplugging is one of our greatest amenities. Guests with Verizon and T Mobile cell service may get a signal on the property, but will most likely roam to Canada, so it may be wise to alert your carrier that you are not crossing any borders. Major carriers have service in Eastsound. There is a land-line phone located outside the office available 24/7 for emergency and local calls. Any non-local calls will require a pre-paid calling card to dial.

There is password protected Wi-Fi available in the office area for a quick check of your email or download, up to 15 minutes per day. Please do not plan to “work” from here. Enzo’s Caffe, the Orcas Public Library and Orcas Online (all in Eastsound) offer connections for longer periods of time. Beach Haven is a place to unplug and relax.

Can I purchase a gift certificate?

Absolutely, just give us a call during office hours and we’ll get one in the mail the next business day.
